2010 - Racing wrap-up...

Although it was another very successful racing year for the TseekaSpirit Kennel it was however a very short season due to overseas travel!

TseekaSpirit Kennels won the Goldseekers ASSA 6 dog class race – making the TseekaSpirit Dogs the 2010 National Race 6 dog champions!  Although a last minute decision to compete in a class I have never competed in before and after travelling over 10,000kms and 150 hours of driving to race for the weekend, the dogs made me very proud!  I could not have asked for anything more of them!

Tanayia

Leader – the speed setter – always giving me 110% and setting the pace of the race!

Shayla

Gee/haw leader – taking every command without hesitation and pure confidence.  Pushing Tay in the right direction every time including two "come haw’s" – something that we have never practiced in training!

Shavara

Point – also a speed setter.  My awesome up and coming star, always giving me her all.  Watch for her in the future!

Spyder

Point – my agile little girl.  Her first year in racing and a little shy but a fast learner and a very willing team dog!

Stinga

Wheel – my power.  Also his first year in harness but my gosh... does he add power to the team.

Willow

Wheel  – a loaned dog from Paul Tye and Denise O’Dowd’s Kennel.  A great little wheel dog with the ability fly through the air, as to not get her feet wet!

September 2010

I flew to Dunedin to meet up with Sarah and Jon of Howling Heights, and met up with my puppies Indy & Stig that I flew over almost 18mths before!  How wonderful it was to see them and even get to race them in the Kirsty Burn Relay.  I competed in the Trailblazers Sled Dog Club & Australasian Sled Dog Club Kirsty Burn – in the 2 dog class – also borrowing two of Sarah & Jon's older dogs.  I have never laughed so hard in a race before! Lutek and Raea would take very little notice of the Aussie accent and purely ran their own race!  We came in 3rd place overall, and it was wonderful to be able to say I have raced in New Zealand!

Taking Indy and Stig (the Aussie kids!) out for a run in NZ

I was also offered to be the Race Marshall of New Zealand’s Southern Regions Sled Dog Club -Wanaka Sled Dog festival. Once again a new experience for me!  Although challenging at times it was an honour to be asked to be their official 2010 Race Marshall!

Summer Fun!

During the summer we spend a lot of time at the beach...another favourite pastime of my Siberians.

2009 - WOW - what an awesome year...

Tanayia

Even after giving birth to six puppies (five naturally and a caesarean for one) and surviving a stingray attack with shoulder muscle damage while pregnant ...THIS GIRL STILL HAS IT!!!! She’s still competing up there with the best of the best! Her “flying” racing style once again has placed her in the top of her field. Tanayia's determination and racing style have many people watching out for her - she certainly is making a name for herself in the racing world!

Shayla

I have been more then impressed with this little girl! She’s really come out of herself and has decided to stop challenging me – well in harness anyway. I took a huge gamble trusting her to be in single lead for me at the Canberra Classic sled dog race and she amazed me both with her determination and leadership qualities.

Shavara

This was my little girls first race season. She has performed well, keeping up with her older sisters and placing in the top four in every race that she was entered in this year. Although noisy, her willingness to please and run will keep her in good stead for years to come.

The Boys

Well “MY” boys at Idigadog have also had an awesome year, Jonty, Sully, Ollie and Oscar sure have made me proud.  Jonty taking his new role of leader in his stride and the three monsters, their first year proving that they are a force to be reckoned with. Well done boys!
