'Tanayia'

 

Tanayia is from Michael and Liz Herbst of Arcticstarr Kennels.  Wow, what a dog!!  Tay gives 110% every time she's in harness and is a very loving, affectionate and easy dog to own. 

The first time Tay was put in harness she blew me away.  She will work in every position but sets a very fast pace so is usually put in single lead.

Unfortunately Tanayia had a very rough beginning.  At the age of 14 months she was diagnosed with a deadly disease called Cryptococcus.  The poor girl underwent two years of heavy chemotherapy and a multitude of tests.  But, she is a fighter and finally overcame the disease and to this day is clear of Cryptococcus.  Unbelievably, three months after finishing chemo, Tay went on to win the one dog class at the Canberra Sled Dog Classic and became one of only a couple of bitches to win this title in what is a very male dominated class.  Since then, she has won the majority of the one dog races that she has competed in all over Australia!

Tanayia is an exceptionally smooth mover, steady worker and a naturally hard driving leader. What more could you ask from a sled dog! 

In late 2008 Tanayia was mated to Jonty and became a mother to six beautiful “Motley Crew Puppies”.   You can check out Stig, Drifter, Roary, Stinga, Indy and Spyder on their own pages.
